CartoonKevin351 Introduction Video
This is my very first video! This animation I did basically introduces myself to YouTube as well as explain what I plan to do in the future for this channel.
When I was 5 years old, I became a huge fan of cartoons. Fun fact: my first words were actually “Cartoon Network!” As I grew up, I started drawing (and sometimes tracing) cartoon and video game characters. Drawing actually became a hobby ever since I first started high school and I even shared some of my work on DeviantArt! I continued to draw pictures until I started my YouTube channel. Now I’m too busy to busy frequently anymore! As I grew up, I always wanted to become an animator, so I can express my imagination and creativity and get paid for it! I figured it was possible since I found out that one artist I followed on DeviantArt (she no longer has an account there) actually made a cartoon for Cartoon Network called Mighty Magiswords! I was hoping that I would be a popular animator for either YouTube or Warner Bros. But then I thought “You don’t have to be perfect to be popular.” Honestly, I don’t think my drawing and animation skills are professional yet. Nevertheless, I thought it would be clever to introduce my YouTube channel with an animation!
I started working on this animation in September 2018 in my Multimedia/Digital Design class in Immokalee Technical College (iTech). The classroom had computers with just the programs I needed to make the animation (as well as get started on my YouTube channel). Before I started working on the animation, I actually wrote a script (since I’m not too good at improvising) and drew a storyboard (a helpful animation technique featured in my classroom). I read the script as I recorded my voice using my old personal laptop’s voice recorder app. I also used the storyboard as map to remind me how I wanted my animation to look like when I finished it. I was working on the animation in class thanks to a big, special, monitor-like Wacom tablet with pen. The tablet, as well as a few tools featured in Harmony Advanced (the animation software I was using), made making my animation a lot easier. It took longer than expected due to the fact that I was required to practice for a test and actually take said test to acquire my Adobe Photoshop certificate I needed to pass the class and to make my resume more appealing for when I actually get a job that requires me to use Photoshop. I finally managed to complete my 850-frame animation in November and proceeded to add my voice recordings, some sound effects, music, and even a few bits of some gameplay clips of Injustice 2, Overwatch, and Rayman Legends I recorded and extracted from my PlayStation 4 (PS4) to my animation using Adobe Premiere Pro. I ended up removing a few frames from the animation to properly lip-sync my voice to the animated representation of me speaking.
I’ve made 2 mistakes when finishing up my animation:
- I didn’t know how to add an round iris transition in Premiere Pro, so I ended up making my own round-iris-close-to-black transition using Harmony Advanced.
- The animation can be seen in 1080p, but the PS4 clips I added in the video can only go up to 720p. That’s why their frame rate is a little jumpy when seen in the video.

Animation Time: Approximately 2 months (in class)
Edited using Adobe Premiere Pro
Editing Time: Approximately 1 week (in class)
About a week after this video uploaded, I also added subtitles because I thought it was a descent idea to begin with. Since I was sharing this video with my friends and family, I decided to add Spanish subtitles as well since I have Spanish-speaking relatives from Argentina who follow me on Facebook. I simply copied the English subtitles I had already added and placed them in Google Translate to translate them in Spanish for me. Then, I simply copied the translations and made Spanish subtitles out of them. Even though my Spanish isn’t really sharp, I still had a feeling that Google sometimes translates certain worlds and/or phrases incorrectly. To ensure I had descent translations, I had my mother, Marcela Gonzalez (currently know as Marcela Virgin), help me proofread the Spanish translations given to me. A HUGE special thanks to her for helping me out!
