Brawlhalla
Developed by Ubisoft‘s Blue Mammoth Games, Brawlhalla is basically a Super Smash Bros. parody with a few original twists. Just like Super Smash Bros., players try to knock their opponents out of the stage. This game contains an huge, ever-growing cast of characters that are ALL locked and must be unlocked using in-game currency. Thankfully, once a month, the game allows a few, randomly-picked characters to be playable for free for a limited time (usually a month) while permanently unlocking characters allows players to play as them as long as they want since they can never be locked again. There is also a special type of currency that can be obtain by participating in ranked matches and premium currency that can only be obtained from in-game purchases that require real money. These types of currencies can be used to purchase alternate skins for characters and their weapons, taunts, profile pictures, and more. Each character uses their own versions of 2 out 12 different types of weapons that can be used when obtained via swords, one of a few items that randomly appear and can be used in the battlefield (basically, your choice of one of many available stages in the game). There are also a variety of modes that mostly stray away from obvious and/or traditional Super-Smash-Bros.-like gameplay. There also a possibility of playable guest characters appearing in the game in the future, like Rayman and Hellboy who were already released.
